THE WAR IN HEAVEN – How the Most Beautiful Angel Fell

About this video

Jacob's stairway is still there, with angels going up and down, just like at the end of the last story. But not every angel who came down that night stayed faithful to what he had seen up above. One of them was the most beautiful being God ever made — closest to the throne, nearest to the light of any creature that ever existed. This is the story of how he fell, and how his ending was already written before he ever chose to rebel.

In this episode we trace the fall through the whole of Scripture: the poems of judgment against the kings of Babylon and Tyre in Isaiah and Ezekiel, where pride opens the door to the fall; the real Hebrew phrase heilel ben-shachar, and how a Latin translation by Jerome, fifteen hundred years later, turned it into the name "Lucifer"; the declared war of Revelation, where Michael defeats the dragon and it is given five names in a single verse; the courtroom meaning of the Hebrew word satan in the oldest book of the Bible, Job; the talking serpent of Genesis, never once called Satan or the devil in that chapter; the three temptations of Jesus in the desert, each one defeated by Scripture quoted, never by force; and the promise made all the way back in Eden — Genesis 3:15 — that closes the whole story.

This episode draws on Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28, Revelation 12 and 20, Job 1, Genesis 3, 1 Timothy 3, Luke 10, 2 Corinthians 11, John 8, Matthew 4, Ephesians 6, 1 Peter 5, and Romans 16.
